Tree and Shrub Care Services in Maryland

Tree and Shrub Care Services

SPS tree and shrub care services keep ornamental trees, shade trees and shrubs healthy with deep root fertilization, preventive disease treatments, IPM insect control, sprayless systemic treatments and high-pressure shade tree applications. The work is led by Maryland licensed tree experts and certified pesticide applicators.

Why Professional Shrub and Tree Care Matters

Most problems do not start with a dead branch. They start quietly:

- Leaves looking a little smaller or paler each year.
- Thin canopies and bare interior branches.
- Spots, blights, or mildew that keep coming back.
- Insect feeding that goes unnoticed until leaves are skeletonized.

By the time a tree or shrub looks “sick,” it has usually been under stress for a while. Professional care focuses on early signs, correct diagnosis, and long term health, not just reacting when a plant is already in decline.

How Scientific Plant Service Cares For Your Landscape

Every property is different, but the way we look at shrubs and trees is consistent:

- Evaluate plant health, site conditions, and past problems.
- Identify insect and disease pressures that are common in your area.
- Build a plan that combines nutrition, monitoring, and treatments only where needed.

To make it easier for you to navigate services on the website, our shrub and tree care is organized into several focused programs.

Deep Root Tree Fertilization

Deep root fertilization delivers nutrients directly into the root zone of your trees and large shrubs. Instead of spreading product on the surface and hoping it leaches down, we inject a nutrient solution into the soil around the drip line.
Deep root fertilization can help:

- Improve color and vigor in tired or slow growing trees.
- Support recovery from construction, drought, or root damage.
- Strengthen the root system before storms or heavy weather.

Even trees that look “pretty good” today often benefit from periodic feeding, especially in compacted or nutrient-poor soils.

Ornamental Program

Ornamental plantings around the house, entry walk, and patio usually represent the most visible part of your landscape. They are also the plants most heavily targeted by local insect pests and leaf diseases.
Our Ornamental Program is built around:

- Regular inspections during the growing season.
- Timely treatments for key pests such as aphids, scale, mites, bagworms, and leaf miners.
- Selective disease management when we see early signs of leaf spots, blights, or mildew.
- Nutritional support for shrubs that are struggling due to soil or site conditions.

The idea is simple: keep ornamental plants looking good and catch problems before they become severe.

Preventive Disease Treatments

Many serious leaf and stem diseases can only be managed preventively. Once the damage is visible, it is often too late for that season’s foliage.

This is especially important for highly valued ornamentals, flowering trees, and species that have a history of recurring disease on your site.

Our preventive disease treatments focus on:

Identifying which species on your property are prone to specific diseases.
Timing fungicide applications to protect new growth as it emerges.
Using targeted materials and intervals rather than constant spraying.

Shade Tree / High Pressure Applications

Large shade trees and tall ornamentals cannot be treated effectively with small homeowner sprayers. When foliar applications are needed, we use high pressure equipment that can reach the canopy safely and efficiently.
Shade tree and high pressure applications are used for:

- Widespread insect outbreaks on large trees..
- Foliar disease treatments where coverage is important
- Situations where aerial parts of the tree need thorough, even application.

Proper equipment and trained operators mean treatments go where they belong while minimizing off-target impact.

Sprayless Treatments

Not every situation calls for traditional foliar spraying. Scientific Plant Service also offers “sprayless” options that reduce visible spraying and drift while still delivering protection.

These options are especially useful on smaller properties, near sensitive areas, or where owners prefer less visible spraying activity.

Sprayless treatments can include:

Soil injections around the base of trees and shrubs.
Trunk and systemic applications that move product inside the plant.
Programs designed with environmental impact in mind.
