If you are unfamiliar with sod, know that sod is a layer of established grass. It is dug up with roots and some soil still attached so it can be harvested in long strips, rolled up, and delivered to its new location. The sooner you can lay down harvested sod, the better. Why do people choose to lay down sod? Reseeding your lawn to encourage new growth may be cheaper and require less effort, but it takes longer to get the gorgeous green lawn you want. When you install sod, you can see a finished-looking lawn after the installation is complete.
Baltimore sod installation services from Scientific Plant Service include the basic steps that are required to install and nourish new sod.

Remove the Old Grass
Prepare the Soil: Till the soil beforehand to break up clumps and ensure it is level. The soil must be loose, not compacted, so that roots can establish themselves in the soil.
Lay the sod.
Neaten the edges.
Water Frequently: Taper off how much you water your sod as time goes on, and it becomes more established.
Apply Fertilizer: Apply six to eight weeks after laying sod to encourage growth.
Overseed Shady Spots: The seed helps parts of your new grass thrive in the shade. Sod is usually full-sun grass because it was grown in full sun and will need to adjust to shade. New sod prefers a well-aerated soil that is nutrient-rich and slightly acidic, with a pH between 6 and 7.0. The only way to know what kind of soil you have is to test it. This can be done with a simple soil test from Scientific Plant Service. Soil tests are recommended for all properties to determine the soil’s level of nutrients and pH. The results will show whether your soil needs potassium, phosphorus, or pH adjustments to reach its optimal state. Once the soil is amended, you can lay the sod and know that you have paved the way for successful turf growth.
